JFC Health Ambassador Program

The mission of the JFC Health Ambassador Program is to encourage involvement at the undergraduate level from the State’s flagship institutions, University of Mississippi and Mississippi State University, in improving the health of Mississippi through service to the community in a medical context consistent with the mission of the Jackson Free Clinic.

The goal of this program is to engage driven students with health-related interests who are committed serving as Ambassadors on their respective campuses for the JFC. This program has elected officers at the two institutions to assume the following possible responsibilities/help provide these opportunities for students:

          • Coordinate health events on campus and in the community

          • Promote volunteer opportunities at JFC on select weekends for upperclassmen

          • Initiate/design fundraising events on UM and MSU campuses benefiting JFC

          • Partner with on-campus and community groups to increase health awareness/involvement

          • Work directly with JFC Board of Directors on new and ongoing projects

This program gives the Ambassadors opportunities to coordinate events on their campus, volunteer at the clinic, and provide a platform to promote health in their state and their respective institutions. As many ambassadors plan to apply to health professional schools, practical clinical experience at the JFC and service experience on the flagship campuses are invaluable opportunities for students who are applying for admission.
