The Jackson Free Clinic is currently providing rehabilitation services in Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy.

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy is a health and rehabilitation profession. Occupational therapists work with people of all ages who need specialized assistance to lead independent, productive and satisfying lived due to physical, developmental, social or emotional problems.

What is Physical Therapy?

Physical therapy is a health and rehabilitation profession that uses a variety of techniques to restore, maintain and promote the best possible physical function. Physical therapists can help prevent/treat the onset and progression of various neuromusculoskeletal related problems

 What are the Rehabilitation Services at the JFC?

The clinic is an educational environment that provides opportunities for students to observe, volunteer, and complete some of the clinical components of their coursework. The clinic is open year round and provides comprehensive rehabilitation services to the uninsured and underinsured community of Jackson, MS and surrounding areas.

Who provides care?

Students, overseen by licensed therapists, provide treatment through this experiential learning program. Faculty from both the Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy departments at UMC oversee the clinic.

How do I qualify for OT or PT services?

You must be uninsured or underinsured. All OT/PT clinic services are free, and therefore no insurance information is necessary.  If the OT/PT clinic cannot provide you with an appointment in a timely manner, a list of area therapists will be provided.

When is the clinic open?

The clinic is open every Saturday from 12-4pm

What should I expect on my first visit?

On the day of your appointment, please arrive at the clinic no later than 1PM. We open the door at 11:30, and begin seeing patients at noon in the order they arrive, so to be seen more quickly please arrive before 11:30 to sign in. If you are going to be late or need to reschedule, please call the clinic and let us know so we can hold your spot.
